The OBEA is leading the fight against the State’s cuts to Old Bridge Township Public School district’s funding.
As a result of the debate over the NJ State budget in the spring of 2018, OBTPS is facing a financial crisis. The district is projected to face approximately $12 million in cuts to its state funding over seven years.
The OBEA is fighting to try to protect our students and staff from the impact of these cuts. In December, we contacted local legislators and learned that State Senator Thompson and State Assemblymen Dancer and Clifton have written bills that would restore full funding to OBTPS and other negatively impacted districts. We have since teamed with them to promote their bills (S2825 and A4245).
We have circulated paper copies of a petition among our members and created an online petition that can be easily shared through social media. We are also planning a postcard campaign to try to generate support for the bills with legislators throughout New Jersey.
We also plan to combine our efforts with associations other towns that have been negatively impacted.
Please do your part – sign the online petition and share it on social media to spread the word about the situation OBTPS is facing.
